Smeshariki

This outstanding project of the Russian animation world became a real sensation in 2004 and remains one of the most popular shows for kids till this day. Remarkably, this story about the unbelievable adventures of Smeshariki — stylized rounded animals — was created as a governmental Russian project (Ministry of culture) that is called World without violence. For the noble project`s purposes the show was supposed to raise many ethical and philosophy questions, and thus, this show was further loved not only by children, but by their parents as well. Every episode was a part of specific theme category: traffic safety, fundamentals of safety and life, morals, health, basics of humans` rights. In some other seasons, the heroes explain the cultural values, guiding them through the UNESCO memorial all around the world. Children are also get inspired to gain essential life skills, as in some episodes the kids are taught how to become a proper Internet user.

Where do Smeshariki live?

In the world of Smeshariki — the Field of Chamomiles — that is separated from the real world by numerous seas, deserts, woods and mountains, and looks somehow ideal and utopian, relations between children and parents are balanced. The parents are carrying their duties in a responsible and reliable manner, while the children are mostly involved in educational games, the everyday routine and adventures. Here, parents are always the authority for their children, mentoring and guiding them, maintaining mutual understanding and a caring atmosphere. The episodes are perfect to teach the best human qualities even to the youngest kids.

Not only Russia makes it popular

The show became very popular all over the world and received mostly warm critics` support. Thus, in 2008 the cartoon received The Federal Prize of the Russian Federation as the national cultural achievement and in 2005, during the International Festival China International Cartoon and Digital Art Festival the show won the Golden Gran-Prix. Interestingly, the Chinese audience, is bigger than Russian, even though it is a Russian show. American kids also enjoy the series, which are adapted to English as Kikoriki. In total the show was translated into 15 languages.

The project has several spin-offs, performed in different animation manners: 2D, 3D and plasticize-style. Moreover, the Russian videogame was created, and the pre-school spin-off about the life and leisure of the favorite heroes was made for at the demand of the youngest audience, who were attracted by the lovely scenes and interesting stories, but was too young to understand the cultural values presented.
