Blessed Xenia of St. Petersburg Icon. The Blessed Saint Xenia lived during the 18th century, but little is known of her life and family. She lived most of her life in St. Petersburg during the reigns of the empresses Elizabeth and Catherine II. At the age of 26 she became a widow, never remarried and lived out the rest of her life devoted to God. The Lord strengthened her and helped her bear her sorrows and misfortunes patiently for the next forty-five years.
Soon enough her great virtue and spiritual blessings began to be noticed by the people. She foretold future events affecting the citizens of St. Petersburg, and even the royal family. She became known as someone pleasing to God, and everyone loved her.They said, “Xenia does not belong to this world, she belongs to God.”
People regarded her visits to their homes or shops as a great blessing.
