According to tales and actual archaeological evidence from the 2nd century A.D. the holiday of "Maslenitsa" may be the oldest surviving Slavic holiday! This decorative and food serving board is adorned with an illustration of this holiday, in joyful, pastel colors. In Slavic mythology, the holiday is a celebration of life, love, sun & joy! It is celebrated for a whole week by dancing, eating pancakes & playing games. At the end of the week, a huge straw scarecrow is burned, releasing all the negative energies of the year past and renewing for the new year!
