From the High Peaks of Science Imperial Porcelain Decorative Plate

The early post-Revolutionary years (i.e. the October Bolshevik Revolution of 1917) at the Imperial Porcelain Factory went by under the inspirational guidance of an artist, named Sergei Chekhonin. Having started his work at the company in 1917, Chekhonin developed a unique, proletarian style for Imperial Porcelain Factory, renamed Lomonosov Porcelain Factory by the Bolsheviks. Under Chekhonin, the dominant subject for porcelain design became revolutionary propaganda posters, slogans, and proletarian ideology. Today, collectors of Suprematist art all over the world battle each other at Sotheby's, Christie's, and other top auction houses over the privilege to own porcelain, designed and painted by Chekhonin and other Suprematist artists.
