The 3-piece fine bone china set - Giselle - is a true work of art! Its creator, artist Lubov Tzvetkova is a multi-talented professional, equally great at painting porcelain tableware, as well as porcelain sculptures. Tzvetkova is working at reviving some of the greatest traditions of the Russian Imperial porcelain, such as the XVIII century technique, called "leaf-to-leaf," using the absolutely unique in its whiteness and plasticity bone china mass. It is truly difficult to imagine anyone more worthy of working with the theme of the world-famous "Giselle" ballet, than Lubov Tzvetkova.
A romantic ballet in two acts by Adolphe Adam, first performed in Paris in 1841. The ballet is about a peasant girl named Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. The Wilis, a group of witches who dance men to death, summon Giselle from her grave. They want to kill her lover, but Giselle's great love frees him from their grasp.
During his visit to St. Petersburg Adolphe Adam received a tempting offer from the Russian Emperor: to become a court composer. He declined it politely. The reasons for his decision are still a subject of art historians' arguments. When the famous composer returned to Russia, he started to create the ballet Giselle, which premiered in 1941. It was based on a romantic story about a young girl who fell in love with a selfish aristocrat Albert.
