In Europe, bone china was first produced by Josiah Wedgwood in England who, for decades, remained the sole producer of this type of porcelain outside China. Moreover, the first ever Russian-made bone china was produced in the latter part of the 1960s, when the Lomonosov Porcelain Factory, now bearing its original name of Imperial Porcelain Factory, was able to develop its own process of making this rare type of porcelain. Though lagging behind many European bone china producers in terms of the first production date, Imperial Porcelain's product turned out much whiter and thinner.
