The placid light from the ancient moon, rising lazily over the horizon, illuminates the little valley and an old log cabin in its center, a ghostly-gray lump of an object, seemingly lifeless and quietly melancholic. Seemingly, but not completely lifeless, for some timid rays of splinter torch light could be seen, frailly, but oh-so-stubbornly escaping outside from the windows and shyly dancing on the majestic snowdrifts.
