Mother of God Assuage My Sorrows Decorative Icon Egg (Large)
More than 300 years ago, a sick woman was miraculously cured after praying before the Mother of God Assuage My Sorrows icon. Since then, the icon has been described as a miracle worker. It was brought to Moscow by Cossacks in 1640 and became a revered relic in the Church of St. Nicholas. Records of all the icon's miracles were kept in the church but lost in a fire in 1771. Nonetheless, believers have maintained their faith in the icon’s miraculous healing powers. This reproduction wooden egg icon, hand-painted with tempera and finished with glossy oil lacquer, was made in accordance with Russian Orthodox canon law.
