The story of the Our Lady of Kazan icon is full of miracles! At one point, the Virgin Mary appeared in the dream of a nine-year-old girl named Matrona and told her to dig up the icon, which had been buried in the ground during the era of Muslim rule over Russia. Later, a church was built in honor of the newfound relic, and that's where the miracle-working icon resided. This reproduction wooden egg icon was hand-painted in one of Russia's most famous monasteries.
