Our Lady of Tikhvin Wooden Icon Egg

It is said that the icon of Our Lady of Tikhvin first appeared in the late 14th century and is a copy of the original, painted by Evangelist Luke while Holy Mary was still alive. The icon of Our Lady of Tikhvin had miraculously appeared many times in non-Christianized lands, making miracles. The place of its last appearance on the Tikhvinka River became its home, once a temple was built to house it. According to many accounts, the wooden church, housing the icon had burned to the ground three times, yet the icon had stayed untouched every time.
