Our Lady of Vladimir Amber Orthodox Icon

The Our Lady of Vladimir icon, framed and adorned with amber decoration.

The technique used in this piece involves a multilayer volumetric image made with amber sand, carefully selected for its colors and shades. The glowing halos and the background on the canvas are adorned with large amber fragments. The prominent details of the image are decorated with amber chips. Finer elements are accentuated with glittering shine and marble chips.

The icon of the Vladimir Mother of God is intended as a family gift for loved ones and relatives. According to tradition, the icon was painted by the Apostle Luke on a part of the table used during meals of the Holy Family. All later copies of this icon are precise reproductions of the original created by the Holy Evangelist. The image is executed in the classic iconographic style of Eleusa (the Merciful).
