Star Destroyer is a capital ship in the Star Wars universe.
The Imperial-class Star Destroyer is the signature vessel and most efficient spaceship of the Imperial fleet. Each can be deployed individually as both a forward operating base and as mobile weapon systems platform responsible for safeguarding multiple planets, trade routes and systems, and carried enough firepower to subdue an entire planetary system or annihilate a small rebel fleet. Imperial Star Destroyer has the basic "triangular" hull; the successful v-shaped designs are explained in Legends as originating from Sith influence, and have been adapted by numerous factions for a wide variety of applications. Due to its size and armament it is the universal weapon in suppressing the resistance of entire worlds. It has only the best crews, and may be in the autonomous expeditions for a long time. The armament of the ship consists of heavy turbolaser batteries and ion cannons, as well as numerous light laser and ion guns. Imperial Star Destroyer transports Imperial fighters, interceptors and bombers, as well as large amphibious forces including: ground walkers, infantry and support amphibious ships.
