Russian Imperial Porcelain has been a trend-setter in the world of fine porcelain for several centuries and today, is known to be one of the world's prime producers of fine china. This coffee/tea set, inspired by Scheherazade, a famous ballet by the great N. Rimsky-Korsakov, is a true work of art! The libretto was written by the great A. Benoit and incorporates several of the best-known tales from "A Thousand and One Night" series. In 1910, preparing for the second season of the Ballets Russes in Paris, S. Dyagilev decided to add Scheherazade to the season's repertoire, to be choreographed by M. Fokine. The ballet, starring, arguably, the best male ballet dancer of the early 20th century, V. Nijinsky, was a grand success. Scheherazade is a ballet by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov Composed in 1888. The Sultan Shahryar, convinced that all women are faithless, vowed to put to death each of his wives after the first nuptial night. But the Sultana Scheherazade saved her own life by entertaining the lord with fascinating tales for one thousand and one nights. The Sultan, consumed with curiosity, postponed from day to day the execution of his wife&finally gave up his bloody vow. The ballet Scheherazade, written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov influenced by the magical power of One Thousand and One Nights series, is set in the history of world dance as revolutionary choreographic drawing, saturated with passion and emotions. The composer invites you on a musical journey filled with the images of the East, unique in their beauty.
