Soldier's martial cloak (also called ground sheet) is a square of canvas cloth. At the edges there are holes and wooden pegs which are used as buttons. When putting on a ground sheet and tying the string tighter on the sides, the hood is formed. The main purpose of the ground sheet is rain protection. Several ground sheets put and tied together can be used as a small tent in which one can spend the night outdoor. Also it can be used as a bedding when camping.
