Theotokos of Vladimir
The Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, according to tradition, was painted by the Apostle Luke. Since the early 12th century, it has been venerated as one of the foremost holy icons and a protector of the land. On the back of the icon is inscribed a prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos: “Hear and listen, Mistress, and grant comfort to your servants.”
