Saints Peter and Fevronia are venerated as a model of Christian marriage. They maintained love for each other through many life trials and became renowned for their piety and mercy. They passed away on the same day and hour, June 8 (25), 1228, and were buried in the same grave. The saints are traditionally prayed to for family well-being and guidance in choosing a worthy life partner.
The image of the saints on the icon is heart-shaped and surrounded by flowers, symbolizing the spiritual beauty of a faithful marriage. On the back is engraved a prayer of praise to the holy couple: “Rejoice, holy and glorious miracle-workers Peter and Fevronia.”
